The Carleton-Victoria Forest Products Marketing Board negotiates prices and contracts with mills within and outside of New Brunswick on behalf of the producers in the two counties for primary forest products. The products that the Marketing Board sells range across all local species of trees and of the various qualities that are used including sawmill product, OSB product, pulpwood, and biomass chips for bioenergy plants. For all primary forest products sales that are made on behalf of the local producers, there is a 2.2% levy collected, of which 1.95% is earmarked for adminstrative costs of the day to day operations of the Board and 0.25% is earmarked for forest management.
The Carleton-Victoria Wood Producers Association also operates a fully functional wood utilization yard in conjunction with the Marketing Board. With the yard, the Association accomodates offloading and reloading contracts with mills for particular products, but also has capacity to do sorting and processing of products using it's two slashers. The Association also runs a very successful hardwood log & veneer service from the yard on behalf of its producers, where producers can bring in log potential random length stems to have processed for the best and most lucrative markets.
The Board publishes a current price list that provides details of the pricing and specifications that are current on the day of the printing of the price list for the various mills that the Board has agreements with.
